Day 43 during my Covid-19 exile at IsGood Woodworks 4/30/2020
Steam Bent Window Trim
After a fairly long break, I am now finally returning to work on the flagship of my future fleet of tiny house style RVs, mostly travel trailers. I now begin the completion of the inside of the roof section, with curved trim for the skylight over the sleeping section.
Tiny House RV Walk Through
I have been eagerly awaiting the beginning of the end of 4 years of work on the flagship of my future fleet of RV’s. That time has arrived! The goal is to have all of the in shop work done before we re-open, and ready to move outside to unite the roof and the body. That will also have the significant benefit of opening up an abundance of space for my subscribers and short term shop users.
This is the first of a fleet intended to constitute a “retirement” business currently envisioned as a private outdoor touring company, fleet provided. It is not clear at this time regarding solo rentals. Feel free to tell me what you think about how best to make use of my future fleet.
Making a Spanner Wrench
When I first announced that we were required to close by the Gov’ners orders, I described what I would be doing and that included shop improvements. I got a very quick response from one of my long term subscribers: “Please.. Make…The...Spanner…Wrench.”. This was for Ossie, our oscillating spindle sander, that was a complete obstructionist jerk every time you needed to change the sanding cylinder.
Ossie has a whole new attitude:
Heirloom Crib
One of my subscribers was cut of by the shut down very near the completion of a long running fine piece of traditional woodworking: A cradle for the generations. He asked if I would complete it and I felt honored to do so. Not to waste any yield of value, it is now part of my story.
Living Well in Solitude
This is my personal response to the difficulties we are all having during this great pause. I was very fortunate to be in a situation that allowed me to turn a few dials, re-arrange elements of my life, and continue my work for myself and community. I owe it to myself and those who are suffering not to waste the opportunity hidden within the problem.
Home Alone and Locked Down
Day 16 of isolation during the Covid-19 Pandemic, 2020. No worries, this is just my way of coping. I just checked on me and I appear to be fine, thank you.
Building a Wood Steamer
Planning ahead for free time coming up for work on my own projects. This steamer will be for one of the sub projects on #1 Tiny House RV. I am excited to get back to moving that project forward.
Shock and Recovery
This is the introduction of a Journal of my time of isolation gone to ground in the nation of IsGoodia.
This tells the story of my first 13 days after IsGood Woodworks was ordered to shut down and close our doors to the public. Since almost all of my business is based on serving people learning wood working present in our shop, this was a threat to our survival. Watch to see how we arranged with our community to turn the danger into an opportunity.
